Don't Believe Everything You Read

I found this recently. It's my grandmother's marriage certificate. At first glance everything looked in order and matched what she had told me as far as dates and locations were concerned. Her maiden was spelled out including her middle name. However, the groom's name is WRONG! The groom listed is actually my great grandfather, my grandmother's father-in-law. Her husband's name (my grandfather) is not to be found on the document.

Human error strikes again!

  1. This is just wild! I've read a lot of marriage certificates but never run across this error before.

  2. my father,s birth certificate has the right father and wrong last name for the mother. apparently there was another person same name , same fathers name same first name for the mother born the day before my father. He was born in 1912 in a small town. apparently when he got the record , he never realized it was for another person. So, I have a differant mans birth certificate!! lol
